Keynote session

The key note speaker will give a speech on the theme of the conference, ‘Women in Leadership’, with a focus on the specific objectives of the conference. The key note speaker will also highlight the issues, challenges and the barriers women (including those in science careers) face in aspiring to leadership roles; such as discrimination, harassment, violence, and other social determinants. The speaker will share her personal vision of the importance of inspiring young women to careers in senior leadership roles and the importance and value of gender equity in leadership for successful societies and organizational achievements.

  • To expand the understanding on the barriers facing Nepali women leadership across multiple fields.
  • To get insights on ways to mitigate those barriers through mutual discussion and shared learning.
  • To allow the participants to gain diverse perspectives on women leadership issues, and learn from personal experiences and opinions.

Objective of Panel Discussion Day II

  • To expand the understanding on the barriers facing Nepali women leadership across multiple fields; specifically, in science field and based on the screening of the documentary, “Picture a Scientist”.
  • To get insights on ways to mitigate those barriers through mutual discussion and shared learning.
  • To allow the participants to gain diverse perspectives on women leadership issues, and learn from personal experiences and opinions.

Discussion on Career Development

Personal stories will be followed by open discussion on career development. The discussion on career development aims to guide and inspire participants in planning their careers path. This session will highlight on how a mix of disciplines can also be a possibility towards securing a more enjoyable career. This session will show students how broadening ones’ visionary scope can lead to more interesting career possibilities. The session will use open space methodology, will be guided by the interest and the questions of the participants. It will be facilitated by Abhilasha Karkey, Vice Director, OUCRU-Nepal.
